Convertri Updates – 21/06/22
Backgrounds are important.
Personally, I need some kind of noise in the background at all times. Murder documentaries, old episodes of the Simpsons, that kind of thing.
I know people who fall asleep to painting tutorials or people playing board games.
(Yes, me and my friends are very cool.)
Backgrounds – audible or visual – provide the canvas behind the brush strokes of our everyday life, making the colours seem brighter and textures more vibrant. Without them, vital context would be lost.
I’m not exaggerating here when I say backgrounds are one of the most crucial parts of the pages you create in Convertri.
And if you agree, we’ve got a fantastic brand new feature you’re going to love.
Read on for that, as well as the usual bug fixes, interesting stuff, and more:
FEATURES
Background videos – we’ve made some major changes to the background video element. No longer does it use a HTML player: our devs have recreated a version of the Convertri video player, which comes with new benefits like:
- You can now use Actions and Events on background videos
- Use Convertri-hosted videos (no third party service needed)
- “Video ends” settings, with the ability to play on loop
And we’ve kept really useful features from the original element, such as:
- No video controls will be visible, and clicking will not pause
- Overlays are available in Properties
This new background video overhaul will give you greater control over how your page looks, as well as the effects you can create. Go nuts!
BUGS
Form widget – if you used the form widget as a checkout without a form attached to your page, it might not have worked correctly. The form widget is supposed to be able to function as a checkout without a third party or HTML form attached, so now we’ve corrected the issue and it should all work as it’s supposed to.
INTERESTING STUFF
As I was pottering about on YouTube (trying to find a murder documentary I hadn’t watched, ahem) I stumbled on something truly disturbing… one of my very first Convertri updates. Travel back in time with us and see what the app looked up way back in 2017:

And on this day in history, the first ever Ferris wheel – invented by George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr., a Pittsburgh-based engineer – made its debut at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. When the incorporation papers for the Ferris Wheel Company were filed, the purpose of the company was stated as: [construction and operation of] “wheels of the Ferris or other types for the purpose of observation or amusement”. While not exactly a wheel of the Ferris, our patented “image carousel” provides just as many thrills for your observation or amusement – and you can find out how to incorporate them into your page here:

Stay safe, and happy converting!
