Split tests, you say? Even easier, you say?

Let thy will be done!

This week, we’re releasing the ability to split test totally different pages. It’s a big shake-up of how our current system works, so let me explain.

The old split testing system was designed to test two variants of the same page, so you could tweak a little bit of copy here, a different button colour there – but this isn’t always what you needed.

Sometimes, our users wanted to split test two completely different designs. And this would mean building that new page entirely from scratch, even if you already have the page you want to use in your funnel.

Even worse – you’d lose the loser, which meant that if you wanted to keep the page that didn’t win, all that effort would go down the drain.

But now, we’ve given you a choice: when you create a new split test, you’ll be able to either create a clone of the first page, or clone any other page in your funnel as the second variant.

And because it’s a clone, you’ll be able to adjust this new variant without affecting the original page – meaning you can use pages which are live elsewhere.

Sound good? Read on to discover more, and if you’re using Convertri right now make sure you force refresh the app by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+R (or CMD+SHIFT+R if you’re on a Mac) to check out  what’s new this week.

FEATURES

Split testing – we’ve overhauled the split testing functionality, and you can now choose an entirely new page as your other variant, instead of having to create it from scratch. This means you can use a clone of an existing page, while that existing page is still live. Click Split Test on the three dot menu on your page card, and you’ll be taken to the new split test screen where you can configure your new variant.

URL parameters – URL parameters will now be passed through on form and checkout submissions as well as links, which is great news for anyone who loves using dynamic text to personalise user experience.

BUGS

Social media image – if you were trying to test a split test page in Convertri on Facebook’s debugger, it wouldn’t display the image you may have been expecting. Instead, you’ll get a big fat error. We’ve had a word with Mr Zuckerberg and now any split test page you share should look normal.

Stay safe, and happy converting!
