Convertri Updates – 15/5/18
It’s the Great Data Protection Rigmarole!
(Real acronym coming soon.)
GDPR is almost here – and this week, our update goes live.
I don’t blame you if you’re still a bit foggy about it all (I am). So, here’s a brief lowdown:
What it really stands for is General Data Protection Regulation – and it’s being introduced to unify data protection laws in the EU and make sure every country applies them in the same ways.
This is to protect the people of the EU from shady folk who spread their data irresponsibly and puts citizens in charge of what, where and how personal information is shared.
And even though the UK is soon leaving Europe, it will still effectively replace the Data Protection Act 1998.
The GDPR is due to come into force on 25 May – but this week, we’re releasing updates that will make complying a lot easier for you, and help your customers stay safe when using Convertri.
It’s the right thing to do. Plus, non-compliance with GDPR could result in fines of of up to €20 million or 4% of the company’s global annual turnover… so that’s a turn off.
And – as always – if you’re using Convertri right this second you’ll need to force-refresh (CTRL + SHIFT + R, or CMD + SHIFT + R if you’re on a Mac) to see what’s new.
CONTENT CORNER
We thought we’d remind you about a case study we did not too long ago about checkboxes (which we think are a good way of complying with GDPR) and conversions. Read – and watch – it here:
HELP DOCS
A couple of new docs for you this week, thanks to excellent user suggestions. As always, if you spot a gap in our educational material or get a bit stuck, we’re here to help.

FEATURES
GDPR – the brand new part of our site is live at app.convertri.com/mydata. Anyone can visit, and once they enter their email and click a link in the confirmation message they’ll be able to:
Take a look at the data we’ve gathered about them via API integrations (HTML forms don’t go through our system, so when you use these we gather no data)
Edit or update their information
Remove some or all of it, except the data we’re legally required to hold on to (e.g. when a purchase has been made, because we always keep receipts)
Funnels – your filters will be preserved when you go back to the funnel list from viewing any funnel, so if you’ve selected a domain you won’t have to repeat that whole rigmarole. (I just learned that word, I’m using it everywhere.)
Page templates [PRO] –
Paw Central – a friendly, furry template for your four-legged friends.
Consultation – a clean, reassuring page for consultations and appointments.
Boot Camp – a rugged, yet dynamic template perfect for intensive programs.
BUGS
Funnels – ones with many pages were causing Out Of Memory errors. Our changes made a huge reduction of the amount of memory used when listing the funnel, so you shouldn’t have this problem again.
Domains – users were previously able to create multi-level subdomains (e.g. http://something.something.convertri.com), which seems like a good idea until you realise your SSL didn’t work. So, we’ve told the system to not let you do this no more.
Here’s the GDPR updates in action:
Stay safe and see you next week,
Beth
